This is the front cover of the Response book- I used an early proof of my most recent letterpress project.

I had hoped to be the first contributor to sully the snowy blank pages of the Response book, but alas, I have run out of time in Australia. Since I am in a panic of trying to reduce my luggage weight by 9 kg I'm not including a blank book that I would be posting back to Australia within 2 weeks.

Thankfully, Rayna has come to my rescue and offered to make the first Response within 2 weeks of today! Yay Rayna, the indefatigable!

It's not a very flash blank book, partly so as to make it less intimidating to contribute too, and mostly so that it is easy to dismantle for photocopying when the book is full up

First Response

I have wanted to be involved in a project like this for a long time. Something involving books, making art with other people and receiving exciting mail.

Response is a blank book circulating among contributors who have agreed to add a response to the book and pass it onto another contributor within a fortnight. Contributions can be drawings, writings, collages ... anything that will eventually be legible after photocopying. Once the book is full it will be dismantled, and photocopies made for each participant to have, as well as scanned onto this blog.

Let's respond intuitively and immediately, without hesitation, or censorship or self-criticism. Respond to what you see in the book already, respond to the snowy expanse of the blank page, respond to whatever is going on in the world or your life during the fortnight before you pass the book onto the next responder.
